At Christmas, Sant'Egidio gathers friends from the streets, prisons, elderly homes, IDP communities, and poor neighbourhoods for meals, gifts, prayer, and celebration.
The Christmas outreach is one of the clearest expressions of our way of service: the poor are not guests at a project, but friends at a shared table.
Communities across Nigeria prepare meals, visit those who cannot travel, distribute gifts, and make sure that no one is left alone during the feast.
For many people we accompany throughout the year, Christmas becomes a visible sign that they belong to a wider family.
