During the Covid-19 crisis, Sant'Egidio remained close to the poor, the elderly, displaced families, and vulnerable communities through practical assistance and friendship.
The pandemic exposed loneliness, hunger, and unequal access to care. Our communities responded with food support, phone calls, visits where possible, and attention to those most at risk.
Volunteers helped share public health guidance, encouraged responsible protection, and supported people whose daily income and food security were disrupted.
This service continues as a memory of solidarity: no emergency should make the poor invisible.
