Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)
Friendship and support for families displaced by conflict
Sant'Egidio Nigeria stands beside internally displaced persons with friendship, education, food support, and pastoral care. In camps and host communities, we help families rebuild daily life with dignity.
Our volunteers visit displaced families regularly, listening to their stories and responding to practical needs with food, clothing, education support, and accompaniment.
Children in IDP communities are welcomed into Schools of Peace, where they find safety, friendship, and the possibility of learning even after the trauma of displacement.
We also encourage coexistence among families from different religious and ethnic backgrounds, because peace is rebuilt through patient relationships.
